Donald King Jr.’s 251 all-purpose yards propelled Isle of Wight Academy to a 63-7 win over winless Greenbrier Christian here on Friday night.

King, a senior, had a pair of rushing touchdowns and scored touchdowns on a kickoff return and a pass from Jordan Baines.

The Chargers (6-2) finish their regular season on Friday afternoon at Fishburne Military Academy (Waynesboro). IWA is ranked sixth in the current Virginia Independent Schools Athletic Association Division II poll. The season’s penultimate poll was issued on Tuesday; final playoff pairings for the division’s top four teams will be issued the following Sunday.

To make relevant any playoff talk, IWA needed a win on Friday. They left no doubt as to their intentions when King took the game’s opening kickoff and rambled 80 yards for his first score. Sixteen seconds into the game, IWA led 7-0. After Greenbrier went three-and-out and suffered a wonky punt, King took a handoff in his team’s first play from scrimmage and ran 20 yards for another touchdown.

Ten plays later, IWA’s Cameron Riblet scored on a one-yard touchdown run. The ensuing PAT made it 20-0 Chargers with 6:36 left in the opening period. King hauled in Baines’ scoring pass on the Chargers’ next possession to make it 27-0 and IWA tackled a Greenbrier player in the end zone with 1:02 left to make it 29-0.

IWA’s Hunter Edwards, James Ricks and Colton Heard also scored rushing touchdowns; Kelvin Jackson had a 70-yard interception return for another.

Alex Stidham led the IWA defense with eight tackles; Riblet added seven.
