Lady Dukes capture conference crown

The Windsor softball team won the Conference 41 championship with a 10-0 win over Chincoteague on Thursday night.

The Dukes jumped out to an early lead with a six-run first inning and never looked back. Senior pitcher E.J. Bankson pitched a complete game one-hitter, striking out nine Ponies in seven innings.

The Dukes have secured the top seed in the Virginia High School League Eastern Regional.

They will face Centrel Lunenburg at 5 p.m. on Monday at Windsor High School.
