Chowan golf earns NCAA tournament bid

INDIANAPOLIS
The National Collegiate Athletic Association has announced the field of 80 teams and the names of 32 student-athletes competing as individuals that have been selected to participate in regional competition as part of the 2016 NCAA Division II Men’s Golf Championship in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Regional play will be conducted May 2-4.

After capturing their first CIAA Championship crown in program history, the Chowan University men’s golf team secured a spot in the Atlantic/East Regional Tournament.

Southampton County’s own Jordan Francis, Steven Rhinard and Billy Britton will compete for the Hawks next week.

Play will be hosted by Le Moyne College and take place at Timber Banks Golf Club in Baldwinsville, New York.

The top five teams and top two individual student-athlete from each regional tournament will advance to the finals May 17-21 at Green Valley Ranch in Denver, Colorado.

There will be four regional sites in which two regions will meet to conduct tournament play. The NCAA Regional Tournament pairings are as follows: Atlantic/East, Central/Midwest, South/Southwest and South Central/West.
