WINDSOR
The Junior Varsity Lady Dukes pushed back to make their record 2-2 on Thursday against NSA. After they opened their season to NSA and fell short to a 1-0 loss, the girls won 8-6 on Thursday.

Every girl contributed to this win. It was Megan O’Brien who started it off in top of the 7th with a triple for the Dukes. Edythe Carrthe, the Dukes pitcher, came out with a walk-off home run to allow the Lady Dukes to win the game.

Playing such a well group of girls kept both coaches on their toes, but these two teams never gave up.

“I have a very young team with 14 on the roster. There are 12 freshman and two eighth graders amd I could not ask for anymore than what each girl brings to practice andgames,” said Coach Joy Funai.

Playing Southampton the week prior was a game that this team pulled together, too. Edythe Carr pitched six strike outs, which her defense backed her up every inning.

“My assistant Brooke Sutphin works hard with our pitching crew and it shows. Freshman Rachel Brock popped a shot in bottom of 5th that gave the Dukes the final score of 10-0,” Funai said.

The JV Lady Dukes are working hard and are looking forward to holding their second year tournament at Windsor High School on Friday, May, 13.

Come out and support the Dukes.
