Capron resident plays in CIAA Golf Championship

Jordan Francis of Capron, who attends Chowan University, placed fifth in the 2016 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association Golf Championship. The event took place on April 14-16 at Larkhaven Golf Course in Charlotte, North Carolina.

The course has a Par 72, 6,717 yards, Slope 130, Rating 71.3

Chowan was first among eight teams with scores of 315, 319 for a total of 634 and +58 par

The other schools represented were Livingstone (second), Fayetteville State (third), Virginia Union (fourth), Elizabeth City State (fifth), Virginia State (sixth), Johnson C. Smith (seventh) and St. Augustine’s (eighth).

Player Standings

Francis had scores of 77 and 78 for a total of 155 at +11 par.

The other Chowan players were Steven Rhinard (tied for 7th place); Richard Edwards (9th); Billy Britton (6-11th); Christian Fleetwood (15th); and Ryan Baker (tied for 20th)
