The Lady Dukes pushed their record to 5-1 this week, knocking off Brunswick and Southampton, 14-0 and 8-3, respectively.

Pitcher E.J. Bankson struck out nine Bulldogs and allowed only two hits in the complete game shutout.

Alyssa Funai went 3-for-4 with a home run and 3 RBIs, while Payton Gay was 2-for-4 with 3 RBIs in the win over Brunswick.

Bankson pitched another complete game against Southampton, but saw a deficit on the mound for the first time all year.

“The Indians played a great game, jumping out early with a 2-0 lead after the first inning,” Wade said, “but [We] were able to rally and get the win.”

Funai was 3-for-3 with a sacrifice and 3 RBIs, while Bankson struck out 11 batters and only allowed one earned run.

“Hailey Delgado had two spectacular plays in left field to help preserve the win,” Wade said.

The Dukes hit the road for consecutive road games this week, traveling to play Park View and Greensville County. The team will return home to play the Franklin on April 19.
