Lady Dukes fall short in recent games

In an away game on Jan. 8, the Windsor girls basketball team fell short to Sussex. The final score for the game was 44-52.

“The Lady Dukes gave it a good go at it,” coach Sherry Ashburn said.

Leading scorers for the game included junior Taijii Skeeter with 18 points and freshman Kayce Gray wth 13 points.

“Skeeter had her career-high…She handled the ball well and was a great leader to the team with five offensive rebounds and three defensive rebounds,” Ashburn added.

The Lady Dukes played the Dragons on Wednesday night in a home game where they were defeated by a score of 25-62.

“Appomattox Regional Governor’s School has a good team,” Ashburn said. “Lady Dukes struggled, but never gave up.”

Leading scorer for the game was Skeeter with 10 points.

“This young team has struggled all season, but has shown improvement. Working together and willingness to finish is key,” Ashburn continued. “Lady Dukes will continue to work as we improve our game.”
