COURTLAND
Several Southampton County Public School Board members were recognized by the Virginia School Board Association for their dedication, time and hard work in improving their boardmanship skills through various meeting, conferences, training and active involvement in the association. Each earned credits based on participation and were acknowledged at Monday evening’s meeting for their different levels of achievement.

Superintendent Dr. Alvera J. Parrish announced that Chairman Dr. Deborah Goodwyn earned 84 credits over the past two years to receive the VSBA’s Award of Distinction and a starfish pin; Lynn Bradley (81 points), Florence Reynolds (75), Christopher Smith (71) and Denise Bunn (69) received the Award of Honor and a gold pin; and Donna Roundtree (65), Dr. Carolyn Modlin (42), William Worsham (42) and Vice Chairman Jim Pope (39) received a certificate of recognition. Parrish also earned 77 credits to receive the Award of Honor and a gold pin.

“Thank you board members for all of your hard work and for participating in all of the continuing education programs that you do,” Goodwyn said.
