ISLE OF WIGHT
Isle of Wight Academy dominated Hampton Roads Academy on Friday night, 35-0, avenging a loss that eliminated the former from state playoff contention one year ago. The game ended midway through the third quarter, as Hampton Roads quarterback Chris Leavey’s injury forced the Navigators to forfeit because of their lack of eligible, dressed players.

Led by senior running back Alec Edwards, 90 yards rushing, and senior quarterback Bryce Casey, 81 yards passing, the Chargers compiled 234 yards of total offense. Isle of Wight’s defense was dominant in the win, as well, holding Hampton Roads to negative three yards rushing and forcing Leavey to throw two interceptions — both of which were picked off by senior defensive back James Ricks.

Isle of Wight remains tied with Roanoke Catholic atop the Virginia Athletic Association Division IV rankings. The Chargers are idle next Friday, the last week of the regular season, and await pairings for the four-team state tournament. The matchups will be announced on Nov. 9, and games will played the following weekend.
