Southampton Academy beat Brunswick Academy on Thursday, Oct. 8, in straight sets with scores of 25-16, 25-21 and 25-14.

The Raiders won again in straight sets the following Tuesday night when they played Banner Christian, with scores of 25-10, 25-22 and 25-15.

Coach Rebecca Harper said, “We played really well in the first set. The second set, we missed a few serves to start off and got behind. Luckily, we were able to fight back and take the second set. I was proud of the fight the girls showed.”

Highlights from the game included Nina Byrd and Allison Matthews with four aces each; Avery Pope with 11 serves; Tiffany Rombs with six serves in a row at the end of the third set; and Mason Pope with eight kills and three blocks.

The team will play again on Monday night at home against Amelia Academy.
