Southampton Academy Raiders’ volleyball defeated the Tidewater Academy Warriors on Tuesday night. The final scores for the games were 25-20, 25-21 and 25-22.

Allison Matthews and Mason Pope each got six kills. Pope was also very consistent from the service line, along with Ashten Kinkle.

“Avery Pope served really well in the last set,” coach Rebecca Harper said. “She served out the game for us in a high pressure situation.”

Harper also said the humidity and hot temperature in the gym at Tidewater Academy added some challenges for the team, but they were able to overcome them.

“We got down in the second set, but managed to fight back and win,” Harper continued. “I was really proud of the heart it took to come back from being so far down in the set. They worked really hard despite tough conditions.

The Raiders play again on Tuesday night against the Knights at Blessed Sacrament Huguenot.
