Two Franklin track athletes earn silver at State

The Franklin High School Track and Field team had a good showing at the 1A State Tournament this past weekend at Radford University.
• Javonte’ Baker placed fifth in the 200-meeter with a time of 22.84; and he was the State Runner-Up in the100 with a time of 11.09, which was a new school record.
• Quayshaun Jefferson silvered as the State Runner-Up in the 400, with a time of 51.75.
• The 4×100 Relay Team of Jawun Walton, Jefferson, Gerrell Porter and Baker placed fourth with a time of 44.44 seconds. Arron Sumblin is the alternate.
• The boys team was in the state’s Top 10.
• Josie Rankin placed sixth in the high jump, reaching a height of 4-feet-8-inches.
