WINDSOR
The Windsor Dukes co-ed soccer extended its winning streak to 12 in Wednesday night’s 7-1 win over the Appomattox Regional Governor’s School Dragons. Jacob Watson scored three goals, Connor McKnights scored two and Luke Denecout and Michaela Rose added one apiece.

“We stayed very aggressive throughout the game,” said assistant coach Alex Cole. “ARGS was only able to spend a short time on our side of the field, and one of the very few shots on goal they had resulted in their score.”

Nine seniors were honored prior to the contest, including Jacob and Marquese Watson, Sydney Warren, Michaela Rose, Quinton Winnigan, Connor McKnight, Grant Morrill, Curtis Guilford and Austin Meir.

The team also added three wins the previous week. Jacob Watson added five goals to lead the team, scoring a hat trick in the 4-nil win over Greensville.

“We stayed very aggressive with constant shots toward goal throughout the game,” said assistant manager Alex Cole.

Jacob Watson scored two more goals in a 3-nil win at Park View. Denecourt netted another.

“We started out very aggressive with an early score,” Cole said, “but Park View kept even for the majority of the game.”

Most recently, Jacob Watson was held scoreless in a 3-nil win over Franklin. His teammates Jacob Littlefield, Denecourt and Marqueses Watson picked up the slack, though, scoring one goal apiece.

“We were able to keep the ball close to Franklin’s side and only had to play defensively a handful of times,” Cole said.

With the win in the season finale, the Dukes record now sits at 12-2. Next, the team will play in the conference tournament on May 25-30, but their opponent has not yet been revealed.
