Lady Dukes best Southampton 6-3

The Windsor High School Lady Dukes hosted the Southampton High School Lady Indians on the courts Monday. The home team came away with the 6-3 win.

On court No. 1, Waverly Taylor and Marena Vick battled. Southampton’s Vick picked up the first set 6-6 on a 7-5 tiebreaker. After Taylor won the next set, 6-3, Vick prevailed in the 10-point tiebreaker 10-8.

Carrie Beale took Windsor’s Calli Barton to a 6-6 first set, but Barton won the tiebreaker 7-0 and the second set and match, 6-3.

On the No. 3 court, Camryn Heikens defeated Hannah Seward, 6-4, 6-1.

Gabby Perkins won due to a forfeit, and TeQuila Williams and Lydia Hurst, both of Windsor, also had easier wins.

On doubles, Vick and Beale were able to get the edge on Barton and Taylor, 8-6, but the other Windsor double teams picked up the one, the third one by forfeit.

Windsor is coming off of an April 29 win against Greensville County High School, 8-1. The only loss for the Dukes came in doubles, with Deanna Hancock and Signora Wyche first taking Perkins and Williams to a 7-7 tiebreaker and winning it 7-3.

The Lady Dukes (8-3 overall, 8-0 in TriRivers District matches) are set to travel to Surry High School to play the Lady Cougars today at 4 p.m.
