Southampton Academy Raiders soccer celebrates seniors

During halftime of Friday’s match against Greenbrier Christian Academy, seniors Alex Hasty, Paige Parker, Julie Russo and Colby Blythe were recognized for their accomplishments on and off the field. Hasty, Russo and Parker will attend James Madison University and Blythe will attend Radford University. All four are team captains this season. This is Blythe’s second year playing, Hasty has played three years and Parker and Russo have been with the team for six years. -- SUBMITTED

COURTLAND
The Southampton Academy Raiders soccer team dropped three in a row this past week, losing to Isle of Wight Academy on Monday, 5-0, Blessed Sacrament Huguenot on Wednesday, 4-1, and Greenbrier Christian, 2-1, in overtime on Friday.

Junior Seth Edwards scored on Wednesday and Junior Mary Hudgins scored Friday on a penalty kick.

The Raiders turned around and defeated VCC rival Kenston Forest 5-0 in Blackstone on Monday. Two goals each were scored by Mary Hudgins and Seth Edwards, and Emery Weist added the fifth goal.

Southampton Academy finishes the regular season with a game at Surry High School Friday evening at 5:30.
