Windsor tennis starts district play strong

The Lady Dukes of Windsor High School tennis team is off to a 3-0 start in the TriRivers District but has lost two non-district matches.

The Dukes started off the season in Conference 33 play on March 18 losing a tight one to Bruton, 5-4.

Turning around the next week, the Lady Dukes hosted the Appomattox Regional Governor’s School for its first district match, and came away with a 6-3 victory. In Singles, Waverly Taylor, Calli Barton, Gabby Perkins and TeQuila Willams picked up the wins. Taylor, paired with Barton, and Perkins, matched up with Williams, also picked up doubles wins.

The next day, Windsor played Smithfield and the Lady Packers got the 9-0 victory.

On March 25, the Lady Dukes blanked the Franklin High School Lady Broncos 9-0.

Taylor, Barton, Seward, Hurst and Williams notched wins on March 28 when the team hosted Greensville and earned the 8-1 victory.
