On Tuesday, Windsor High School freshman E.J. Bankson was perfect against Brunswick High School. Through five innings, the Lady Bulldogs were not able to get any hits, and she struck out 14 of 15 batters faced and walked none.

The defense behind Bankson also didn’t give up any errors, as the Lady Dukes run-rulled Brunswick 12-0.

Juniors Brittany Wade and Tori Holmes went 3 for 4, junior Jordan Allen was 2 for 3, and Kelsey Searcy, senior, Peyton Gay, junior, and Alyssa Funia, freshman, went 2 for 4.

“I told the team that I have played baseball and softball since I was seven and coached both for 10 years,” head coach Sean Wade said. “I’ve been apart of no hitters, but never a perfect game that was 5 or more innings long. It was a special day for our team.” There’s still work to do, though. Wade said the team got 18 hits but only scored 12 runs.

“I reminded them that we have a lot of work to do especially on base running,” he said. “I also quoted John Wooden, ‘what can a team accomplish if no one cares who gets the credit.’”

On Thursday, Windsor hosted Southampton at home in a game that was completed after deadline. The Lady Dukes will then take a week off, and will next host the Park View High School Lady Dragons on Tuesday, April 14, at 4:30 p.m.
