The Rock Church School was able to put together a team of fifth- and sixth-graders for a middle school league featuring Southampton Academy, Isle of Wight Academy and Suffolk Christian Academy. The Rock Church Lions finished the season a perfect 9-0. Fifth-grader D.J. Dillon led the team in scoring, averaging 17 points per game. Ben Turner, in sixth grade, finished the season putting in 12 points per game. Coach Danny Dillon said he had to walk away from the Franklin High School basketball program for the ministry, but he was glad to not have to completely give up coaching thanks to his church’s school. “Just teaching these boys how to love on God, each other and their opponents,” Dillon said.
