ISLE OF WIGHT
Isle of Wight Academy hoped to rebound from a two-point defeat against StoneBridge earlier this month, as the boys attempted to win their fifth game of the season on Tuesday night. Instead, the Chargers suffered a 20-point loss in Jester Gymnasium, 74-54.

The Cavaliers were led by Terrick Philpot’s 22 points, which included six 3-pointers. Jamal Frank added 21 points, including 5-for-6 shooting from the foul line in the fourth quarter. IWA was paced by Rylee Williams’ 15 points and Aaron Fronfelter’s 13 points.

The Chargers (4-17, 2-10 in the Metro Athletic Conference) faced steadily increasing deficits as the game unfolded. They trailed by six, 10 and 16 points after each of the first three quarters. Without Fronfelter’s 10 fourth-quarter points, StoneBridge’s 23-19 edge would have been even greater. StoneBridge ran its record to 5-12, 3-7.

On Tuesday, Feb. 3, the Chargers will host Williamsburg Christian (15-9, 9-2).
