WINDSOR
On Jan. 23, the season-long losing streak continued for the Windsor High School Dukes, as the visiting Surry High School Cougars gave them a 63-46 beating.

Rebounds, turnovers and total shots on goal were close, and the Dukes even led in all of these categories. However, the difference was that the Dukes were not able to contest shots as well as their opponent. The Cougars hit 45 percent compared to the Dukes’ 29 percent in field goals.

Keyshawn Reid led the Dukes in scoring with 15, though he only shot 27 percent from the field. However, he was a perfect 8-of-8 from the free throw line. He also led on the boards with seven rebounds. Quinten Winnegan had seven points, one block and two steals.

Justin Williams led all scorers with 24 points. The Cougar guard was 3-of-5 from three-point land, and he also contributed five assists and had eight rebounds.Wednesday evening wasn’t much better for the Dukes, as they lost big to the Greensville Eagles 86-51. The Dukes shot a respectable 42 percent from the field, but they gave up 25 turnovers and only recovered 14 from the Eagles. Greensville, shooting 37 percents, was also able to make up for that by pulling down 19 offensive rebounds for second chance shots.

Quinten Winnegan led the Dukes in scoring with 14 points, hitting 3-of-4 from beyond the arc.

The Dukes, now 0-14, will play Park View, a team that beat them 65-41 in December, today in the Windsor High School gym. Tipoff is at 7 p.m.
