ISLE OF WIGHT
After going on a four-game losing skid to end 2014, the Isle of Wight Academy Lady Chargers look to bring in the new year with a road victory against Broadwater Academy on Jan. 6.

The Lady Chargers stand at 4-5 going into the new year, after starting the season 4-1. Three of the four games were on the road, with the only home game being on Dec. 12.

On that day, the VISAA Div. II Chargers were in action against the Div. II Nansemond-Suffolk Academy Lady Saints in an out of conference basketball game. The Saints came away with a 56-19 win.

At the half, the Chargers were down 24-10, and they were only able to put up 9 points on the Saints in the second half.

On Dec. 16, IWA traveled to Chesapeake to face the Atlantic Shores Christian School Lady Seahawks, who defeated the Chargers 39-31. It was IWA’s second conference match of the year.

The Chargers then traveled to Williamsburg to face Williamsburg Christian in a Metro Conference match. The 9-1 Lady Eagles had won the last 14 games in this series, and they made it 15 with the 52-15 victory.

For the final game of 2014, the Chargers lost to the Norfolk Academy Lady Bulldogs 37-23 in Norfolk.

The Chargers, 1-2 in conference play, will tip off in Exmore against the Broadwater Lady Vikings on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
