The Southampton Indians girls basketball team dropped a close game to Sussex Central on Wednesday evening, 34-31.

“We had a great third quarter and outscored them 14-3, but we have to work on consistency throughout,” said head coach Littleton Parker.

Freshman guard Jamaya Hunt, who Parker believes has a bright future ahead of her, pitched in 12 points in the loss.

“We’re playing as a team and improving each game. That’s all I can ask for,” Parker said. “There are areas to improve, like controlling the ball and eliminating turnovers, but we’re playing much better.”

The Lady Indians fell to 3-4, 3-2 in the district with the loss, but have a chance to even their record with a win over Brunswick on Friday. The game is part of a triple-header that including the Southampton boys Varsity and Junior Varsity squads.
