THE PLAINS
A pair of outstanding scoring performances stood between Isle of Wight Academy and a win this weekend at the Life and Breath Tip-Off Classic at Wakefield School.

The host school’s Deandre Clark had 28 points — 18 of those in the first half — as the Owls dominated the Chargers 75-51 Saturday morning. Bryce Casey had 13 points to lead IWA; Adam Webb had 12 and Aaron Fronfelter had 10.

The Chargers (2-6) were outgunned 44-18 in the first half, but outplayed Wakefield (4-2) 33-31 in the second half, when it was too late. Webb had 10 of his 12 points in that stretch to lead IWA.

Fredericksburg Christian got 33 points from sophomore Daryl Myers as the Eagles dropped Isle of Wight Academy 68-42 Friday

Myers had 20 of his points in the first half; he had six three-point field goals for the game.

IWA was paced by Rylee Williams’ 11 points.

The Chargers trailed by 14, 37-23, at halftime. After scoring the first basket of the half to cut the Eagles’ lead 37-25, they could get no closer than 14 points to Fredericksburg for the remainder of the game. IWA’s scorers largely fell silent; no Charger had more than 7 points in the entire second half.
