Denbigh Baptist Christian School came into Monday’s VISAA Metro Region match undefeated in conference play, having only dropped a total of three games. The division’s No. 1 team was not let down, as they defeated the Isle of Wight Lady Chargers in straight sets 25-18, 25-17 and 25-8.

The Lady Chargers dropped to 3-7 in region play and 4-7 overall, while the Lady Minutemen improved to 11-0 in region and 18-3 overall. They are on a 9-game winning streak, while Isle of Wight had come off a road victory against Southampton Academy.

Lexi Couch led the way for the Lady Minutemen with 9 kills, 2 blocks and a 100 percent serving record. She also had 8 digs and 1 assist.

For the Lady Chargers, Nani Castillo and Bailey Key each had 5 digs. Maddie Ek and Trish Webb each had 2 kills. Carson Saunders had 1 block. Hunter Baylous had 3 assists.

The Lady Chargers will go on the road this Thursday to face the StoneBridge Lady Cavaliers (17-6) in a region match and will be back at home on Monday to face the Southampton Academy Lady Raiders (9-4).
