Raiders roll Warriors 60-28

The Southampton Academy Raiders traveled to Raleigh, North Carolina on Friday night and easily defeated Warriors of St. David’s in an NCISAA 8-man Colonial Carolina Conference battle.

SA led at the end of the first quarter by a score of 16-6 and at halftime by a score of 44-20.

The Raiders offense completely overwhelmed St. Davids, attempting 38 rushes for 431 yards and seven touchdowns. Ethan Edwards led SA’s ground attack by rushing for 152 yards on 9 attempts and scoring three touchdowns. Nate Williams carried the ball nine times for 130 yards and two touchdowns and quarterback Matt Rose ran the ball eight times for 108 yards and two touchdowns. Rose also passed for 133 yards on 16 of 32 attempts and had one touchdown.

St. David’s ran for just over 170 yards on 26 attempts, scoring one touchdown on the ground. The Warriors were 16-32 passing for 196 yards and three touchdowns.

SA’s head coach Dale Marks was pleased with the performance, especially since they were dealing with injuries. “They (St. David’s) came out and did a little bit that we weren’t prepared for,” he said.

SA improved to 5-1, while the Warriors dropped to 3-3.

The Raiders return home to face Northeast Academy this upcoming week.
