Lady Raiders draw over Monday and Tuesday

COURTLAND–On Tuesday, the Lady Raiders of Southampton Academy fell in a VISAA conference volleyball match to Tidewater Academy.

The Lady Warriors ultimately prevailed in 5 games, 25-20, 25-17, 7-25, 15-25 and 15-13.

In the match for the Raiders, Chelsea Beltrami had 3 aces and 5 kills; Mason Pope and 9 digs, 7 kills and 7 blocks; Haley Drewry had 15 assists and 2 kills; and Allison Matthews had 8 aces and 9 digs.

On Monday, however, the Lady Raiders had defeated Amelia Academy in five games on the road.

The Lady Raiders pulled it off 25-21, 22-25, 20-25, 25-18 and 15-7.

Key players were Beltrami, who was 100 percent serving, 14-14 with 2 aces; Pope, with 5 aces, 10 kills, 7 digs and 2 blocks; Avery Pope, with 4 kills and 8 assists and Matthews with 8 digs.

The Lady Raiders are 7-3 overall and 6-2 in conference.

They played Thursday at Isle of Wight Academy and information was not obtained before deadline.
