Raiders volleyball handed first loss

BLACKSTONE—On Thursday, Sept. 11, the Lady Raiders of Southampton Academy were handed their first loss of the VISAA volleyball season, falling to the Kenston Forest Lady Kavaliers 1-3.

The set scores were 12-25, 25-19, 22-25, and 12-25.

Mason Pope had 4 kills, 4 blocks, 6 digs and served at 100 percent (16 total attempts, 2 aces).

Allison Matthews had 10 digs.

Overall, Kenston Forest was just a stronger team, said Head Coach Crystal Butler. “They fought hard and never gave up.”

The Raiders drop to a record of 5-1 overall 4-1 in in the Virginia Commonwealth Conference.
