SA varsity volleyball starts off season 4-0

COURTLAND—The Raiders started off the season at home against Amelia Academy in a conference volleyball matchup on Aug. 26 and won 3-1. The match scores were 25-17, 17-25, 25-21 and 25-14.
Haley Drewry had 6 aces, 13 assists, 5 digs and 3 kills; Mason Pope had 11 kills, 5 digs, 1 block and 6 aces; Allison Matthews had 10 digs and three aces; and Madison Dunn had 8 digs.
The Raiders next took to the road to face conference foe Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot on Aug. 28, and the Raiders pulled away in four matches. The scores were 25-20, 16-25, 25-21 and 25-14.
Drewry had 10 assists and 2 kills; Mason Pope had 5 aces, 12 kills and 2 blocks; Avery Pope had 9 assists and 1 ace; and Matthews had 5 aces and 10 digs.
On Sept. 2, the Raiders traveled again to conference foe Brunswick Academy and defeated them 3-1. The match scores were 25-15, 25-12, 12-21 and 25-25 (9).
Drewry had 9 aces and 5 assists; Mason Pope had 5 aces, 6 kills and 3 blocks; and Jordan Marks had 9 kills.
The Raiders then shut out Suffolk Christian Academy on Sept. 4 in a non-conference match. The scores were 25-10, 25-11 and 26-24.
Drewry had 5 aces and 4 assists; Mason Pope had 6 aces, 8 digs and 3 kills; Rachel Hopkins had 4 digs; and Ashten Hinkle 6 aces.
The Raiders are 4-0 overall and 3-0 in conference play. Their next match will be Tuesday, Sept. 8 in Courtland against Fuqua School..
