COURTLAND—Fourth- to eighth-grade students will have a chance to learn from the Southampton High School coaches and current players, said Head Coach Sharone Bailey.

From July 14-17, the coaches will be offering a basketball fundamentals camp.

“We are going to be teaching ball-handling drills, layups, different offensive and defensive techniques and I’ve got a couple of team-building activities,” he said. “We want to give the kids something to do in Southampton for the summer. We don’t want to make it too expensive. We just want people to be able to come out and have a local gym they can come to and learn from the coaches as well as the players, who will be assisting us.”

Bailey said they are also working on some surprises, including guest speakers.

“We’re trying to surprise them, but I think it’ll give them something to look forward to,” he said.

If you register by Wednesday, July 2, the registration is $60 and that includes a camp T-shirt. Late registration will cost $80 without the shirt. The time for the camp will be 1 to 4 p.m. on July 14-17.
