POWHATAN—Two rivals, the Southampton Academy Raiders and the Tidewater Academy Warriors, will face off Saturday for the VCC Championship.

The Raiders are coming into the game off of an 11-1 win against Kenston Forest. Head Coach Tim Nixon said that SA started out rusty, but as the game went on they came to life.

“We hadn’t played but one game in the last two weeks, so we were sluggish,” he said. “The bats really came to life and we played well.”

Brynner Porter picked up the win on the mound, and he also had two hits on the day. Nixon said Jack Smith and Matt Rose also had two-hit days.

Tidewater Academy Head Coach Paul Rogers could not be reached before deadline.

The teams will face off in Powhatan today at 1 p.m.
