CHESAPEAKE—Atlantic Shores scored twice in its final at-bat to defeat Isle of Wight Academy for the third time this year, 5-4 on Friday in the Metro Athletic Conference Tournament Championship at Atlantic Shores.

The Seahawks put two men on, then doubles by Trey Celata and Mitchell Morrell plated runs as Shores took the lead for the first time. IWA’s Travis Jones took the loss despite allowing only two earned runs.

IWA scored in the first inning and the score stayed 1-0 in favor of the Chargers until the top of the fifth.

That’s when Carson Robertson’s inside-the-park home run drove in Reid Taylor and Grant Taylor to make it 4-0 IWA. The Atlantic Shores Seahawks’ centerfielder Sam Watson slammed into the outfield wall in an attempt to catch Robertson’s liner and the game was halted for several minutes while a trainer tended to the injured player.

Shores drew to within a run, 4-3, in their next at-bat on RBI hits by no. 9 hitter Jacob Flora and Watson.

The teams await seedings for the VISAA State Tournament, which begins on Tuesday.
