ISLE OF WIGHT—Senior Matt Manner was 2-for-4 with 2 RBIs as Isle of Wight Academy defeated Norfolk Christian in a come-from-behind fashion, 12-3, on Tuesday at home.

The Chargers trailed the Ambassadors 3-0 after four solid innings behind starting pitcher David Caravas. A seven-run rally in the fifth inning put IWA up for good.

The Chargers’ Jacob Mintz was 3-for-3 at the plate to pace IWA.

He singled in the second, fourth and sixth innings and scored twice.

Alec Wonders pitched six innings, scattering 11 hits and allowing 3 earned runs. The sophomore struck out two and walked one.

Carson Robertson, Travis Jones and Grant Taylor all contributed two RBIs. Jones pitched a scoreless seventh in relief of Wonders.

Caravas was the game’s losing pitcher. He allowed seven runs in 4-2/3 innings, walked two and struck out three.

IWA added five runs in the bottom of the sixth. A Manner single got things going, bringing home Chase Phillips. Rylee Williams then singled, scoring Mintz.
