Dukes overtake Dragons in soccer

WINDSOR—The Windsor Dukes improved their season record to 3-2 with a 3-1 win over the Appomattox Regional Governor’s School Dragons in a game played on April 22 at Windsor High School. Dukes head coach Dana McKnight remarked after the game, “it was a well-fought physical game.”

Windsor scored first in the opening minutes of the game on a goal by Jacob Watson. He received an assist by Sydney Warren. The Dragons struck back by 31 minutes in the first half to tie the score 1-all. With 7:31 remaining in the first half, the Dukes scored again on a goal by Marquese Watson. He was assisted by Jared Stowe. The Dukes held the led at the end of the first half.

The second half opened with the Dragons constantly attacking the Windsor goalkeeper. The Windsor defense held off all of the many attacks. The Dukes sealed the win in the final minutes of the game with a goal by Tyler Fontenot, who was assisted by Jared Stowe.

Coach McKnight ended his comments stating, “the players are learning to play together as a team and they are working very hard.”
