SA softball bests Fuqua, Kenston Forest

FARMVILLE—Brooke Mizelle was lights out in the five-inning game, pitching a complete game no-hitter, striking out 10 and giving up no runs. Meanwhile, Morgan Pope led the Lady Raiders’ offensively to victory against the Lady Falcons with an inside the park home run that scored two of the Raiders’ 11 runs.

Mizelle also helped out her cause at the plate, batting 3-for-4 with 4 RBIs off of two doubles. Ashten Hinkle was 3-for-3 on the day, and both Mason Pope and Chelsea Beltrami had 2-hit days.

The Lady Raiders had no errors on the field.

On Thursday, the Lady Raiders defeated Kenston Forest on the road 1-0. The Raiders recorded five hits in the outing, and Mason Pope, a freshman, was credited with driving in the lone run, Ashten Hinkle, who reached on a single in the first inning.

Assistant Coach Scott Speight also commented that Mason Pope had an excellent night in centerfield, recording five outs and robbing Kenston Forest on several hits.

Mizelle picked up the win, pitching 7 innings and striking out 6. She gave up 4 hits and walked none in the complete game shutout.
