COURTLAND—The Southampton Academy Raiders soccer team defeated Greenbrier Christian 1-0 on Friday.

The lone goal came off of a long shot from the middle of the field by Senior Alec Lippe in the first half. The backup keeper, Alex Hasty, recorded his first shutout of the season, which included blocking a penalty kick in the second half.

Head Coach Jamie Weist said that the defense played well.

On March 31, SA took on Blessed Sacrament Huguenot and defeated them 3-2. Johnny Tribbett scored twice after BSH took the lead.

The first was on a header from a long throw-in by Colin Swenson, and the second was on a direct kick from 30 yards out.

Junior Colby Blythe scored the game-winning goal in the final minutes off a deflected shot from Lippe. It was Blythe’s first high school soccer goal.
