COURTLAND—On April 3, the Warriors and Raiders faced off, and the Raiders came away with a 5-4 victory.

Southampton Academy’s Olvia Fox took the number one seed match, 8-3, from Tidewater Academy’s Brooke O’Gara. TA’s Dana Clements shut out Kirsten Wachsmann in the second seed match 8-0.

Lady Warrior Casey Richards defeated Mina Johnson 8-3 in No. 3 singles.

In No. 4 singles, SA’s Rachel White took the match from Abby Malcolm 8-4. Selena Johnson bested Lauren Vaughan 8-1, and Elena Litman defeated Sarah Dowless 8-3.

Heading into doubles, the Raiders were up 4-2, but the Warriors would strike. Tidewater Academy’s No. 1 seed team O’Gara and Clements overtook Fox and White in an extended tie-break match 10-7.

TA’s Richards and Malcolm defeated Wachsmann and M. Johnson 6-4 to even things at 4-4.

It all came down to the No. 3 seed, and SA’s S. Johnson and Sarah Best bested the team of Vaughan and Dowless 6-4. Doubles matches were switched to 6-set matches due to time.
