Chargers win over Falcons 61-48

ISLE OF WIGHT—Isle of Wight Academy defeated Alliance Christian Academy for the third time this year, advancing to the regular draw of the Metro Athletic Conference Tournament on the strength of a 61-48 win in the play-in game on Tuesday night.
The Chargers got a career-first double-double from junior Adam Webb, who scored 16 points and grabbed 13 rebounds. Teammate Josh Darden had 12 points and 10 boards; Bryce Casey had 14 points and 10 rebounds.
The Falcons were paced by Dominique Corprew’s 21 points; Myron Prescott snagged 17 rebounds.
IWA jumped out to a 33-15 first-half lead. In the third quarter, Alliance challenged, scoring the first 11 points of the third quarter to cut the Charger lead to 33-26 with 5:02 left in the quarter. IWA shut down the Alliance offense, outscoring the Falcons 15-8 over the next 5 minutes.
With the IWA reserves seeing significant playing time in the fourth quarter, Alliance outscored the Chargers 14-13, but could not erase the accrued deficit.
IWA advances to play the No. 1-seeded Williamsburg Christian at 3:45 p.m. Thursday at Alliance Christian.
