VIRGINIA BEACH—The Tidewater Academy boy’s basketball team is coming off two dominating road victories following the snow delay.

Most recently, on Saturday the Warriors traveled to face Virginia Beach Friends School, and stepped away with a 54-27 victory.

Offensive production was difficult to find for both teams in the first quarter, as Peyton Holdsworth was the only player to find the basket, as the Warriors went up 2-0 at the end of the first.

Both teams came alive in the second quarter. Holdsworth and Daniel McKenney had 11 of TA’s 17 points, while VB was held to 11 total points.

In the third, the Warriors’ offense was really clicking, as they came away with 20 points. McKenney led in scoring that quarter, with 7 points including one 3-point basket, helping TA pad its lead 49-22.

The fourth quarter was again all Warriors, as the defense held Friends School to 5 points, while TA put up 15.

McKenney led the Warriors in scoring with 16 total points. Holdsworth was not far behind with 15 points. Elanté Drew had 13 points.

On Friday the Warriors were in action against Richmond Christian in Richmond, and they pulled away with a 52-37 victory.

In the first Quarter, Marty Gura led the Warriors with 4 points, as TA pulled ahead 10-7. In the second quarter, it was Drew’s turn to lead the offense as he scored 8 points. The Warriors pulled ahead 28-18.

In the third quarter, Holdsworth came alive and scored 9 of TA’s 12 points, while Richmond Christian scored 9. In the fourth quarter, TA capitalized on getting to the free throw line, sinking 6-8, as they put up 12 points against Richmond’s 10.

Holdsworth led the Warriors in scoring with 18, though Gura, with 16, and Drew, with 15, followed close behind.
