TA boys win seventh straight game

WAKEFIELD—In its first game since the winter holidays, Tidewater Academy beat Richmond Christian 68-33.

The game was close in the first quarter, as the teams fought to a 15-15 stalemate. But the Warriors started pulling away in the second quarter, as their defense held Richmond Christian to just 6 points in the quarter, while adding 18 points. In the third quarter, the Warriors’ defense was even more stingy, allowing only 2 points in 8 minutes. Tidewater Academy meanwhile scored 19. The Warriors also won the fourth quarter 16-10.

Three Warriors scored 15 points or more, and four scored in double digits. Payton Holdsworth led the way, with 17 points that included one three-point basket. Elanté Drew and Marty Gura each had 15 points, while Daniel McKenney had 11 points.

The Warriors improved to 11-1 on the season. They face Brunswick Academy tonight in Wakefield.
