FRANKLIN—Spectators were highly amused as the old-timers of Franklin High and Southampton High basketball teams suited up to return to the hard wood and play in the annual Franklin vs. Southampton Alumni game. The game was played on Saturday at the Peggy Wilkins gym at Franklin High School.

Lakenneth Kindred, the event organizer, said that he was pleased with the results of the game and the support of fans and the coaches of Franklin High School. The event is used as a fundraiser for the Franklin High School track team.

The contest opened with the Lady Broncos vs. the Lady Indians. Kiaria Lee led the Lady Broncos in scoring as the home team won the game 28-19.

In the men’s event, the Broncos held the lead for the majority of the game. At the end of the first quarter it was 11-10, and at the end of the half they led 25-24.

Nick Doyle had a hot night as he pumped in 5 three pointers that aided in keeping the Indians in the game and at one point put them ahead. Doyle led all scorers as he finished with 17 points.

In the 4th quarter the Indians closed the score to 42-43 with 53.1 remaining in the game, but the Broncos held on to take a 49-47 win for the third annual playing of the game.

In scoring, the Broncos were led by Lakenneth Kindred with 10 points.

Winning the pull of the door prizes this year was Darren Parker, Jr. the son of Darren and Weynette Parker and sisters Melody and Harmony Ginn.
