“For our first game, I thought our girls played really well,” said Head Coach Chris Hooper. “We came out with the intensity that we needed. As we expected for our first game, we had a few little mistakes, but we corrected them as we played.

“Overall, I’m proud of them, they did a really good job.”

On Tuesday, the Lady Chargers blew out Portsmouth Christian 69-21.

The Chargers went up 21-0 in the first quarter, and extended the lead to 39-5 by halftime. At the end of the third quarter, Isle of Wight was up 58-7. The Lady Patriots put up 14 points in the fourth quarter, and the final score was 69-21 in favor of the Chargers.

“I’ve been on the other side of these types of games before,” said Chris Hooper. “It’s a hard situation. But it’s good for our younger players, who got some playing time.

“That’s good for the team to give everyone a chance to get opportunities. They all work hard in practice.”
