Raiders improve to 9-0

The Southampton Academy Raiders traveled to Roanoke Rapids, N.C., to take on Halifax Academy Vikings and emerged with a 48-14 victory.

The first quarter was dominated by the Raiders with Paul Parker scoring on a 10-yard touchdown run and Matt Rose bootlegging the 2-point conversion.

Rose then had an 11 yard touchdown run and he connected with Parker for the 2-point conversion.

Ethan Edwards had a touchdown run from 3 yards out and Rose threw to Tonee Hill for the 2 point conversion. Next, Rose connected with Triston Holland on a 5-yard pass and Edwards ran in the 2-point conversion.

The quarter ended 32-0 in favor of the Raiders.

In the second quarter Southampton’s Rose had a 48-yard touchdown run early and Nate Williams ran in the 2-point conversion.

Halifax answered with a 45-yard pass from Morris to Blackman that found pay dirt, and they connected on the conversion. The half ended 40 – 8 Raiders way.

The Raiders had the only points in the third, with a Rose pass complete to Holland for 39 yard pass and the same duo connecting for the 2 point conversion.

In the fourth quarter, Halifax’s Morris connected with Jomo from 6 yards out, but they failed on the two point pass.

Southampton Academy (9-0), a number 1 seed, will face 8 seed Northeast Academy at Pillow Field on Nov. 1. Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m.
