BOYKINS – Maggie Ashley Mann and Robert Steven Puckette were united in marriage on June 22, 2013, at the home of the bride’s parents, Bloomfield II, in Boykins. Pastor Raymond Winston Bunn Jr. officiated.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Michael Mann, of Boykins. She is the granddaughter of Mr. Melvin Edgar Mann Sr. and the late Mrs. Sylvia Davis Mann, and Mrs. Edith Bryant Grizzard and the late Mr. Victor Beaton Grizzard, all of Boykins.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Steve Alfred Puckette, of Forest. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Holmes Puckette of Concord, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert Eliot Duclos, who lived in Lynchburg.

The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her family. She wore an ivory cathedral veil and ivory silk dupioni wedding gown by Paloma Blanca with an Alençon lace illusion bateau neckline. The lace bodice was met at the waist with a band to a full skirt pleated from the low V at the back. She carried a bouquet of white ranunculus, hydrangea, roses, freesia, stock and lambs ear. The bride added persimmon red Hunter rain boots to her ensemble due to inclement weather.

The bride’s sister, Molly Katelyn Mann, of Boykins, served as the maid of honor. Bridesmaids were: Mrs. Sarah Puckette Robertson, sister of the groom, of Lynchburg; Mrs. Wendy Drake Burgess of Pendleton, N.C.; Rachel Blair Gent of New York City, N.Y.; Jennifer Elizabeth Hutchcroft of Richmond; and Mrs. Lauren Bull Schmitt of Midlothian. They wore champagne cocktail-length dresses by J. Crew, and carried bouquets of white freesia, peach ranunculus, roses, lambs ear, and pincushion protea.

The groom’s father, Mr. Steve Alfred Puckette, served as his son’s best man. Groomsmen were Michael Cole Mann, brother of the bride, of Boykins; Zane Lee Robertson, brother-in-law of the groom, of Lynchburg; Martin Turner Smith of South Hill; Andrew Wade Jenks of Goode; and Jason Matthew Beydler of Charles City.

Sydney Elizabeth Floyd, Shelby Reed Floyd and Bryn McKinley Francis, all cousins of the bride, were flower girls. Wyatt Maitland Floyd, cousin of the bride, and Hunter William Robertson, nephew of the groom, were ring bearers. Program attendant was Kimberly Mason Everett of Statesville, and Hannah Chappell Lowe of Winton, N.C., handed out wedding programs, both friends of the bride.

Mistresses of ceremonies were Mrs. Cynthia Grizzard Turner of Branchville and Mrs. Diane Mann Francis of Capron, both aunts of the bride. Reception greeters were Mrs. Joan Collins of Pendleton and Mrs. Vivian Kitchen of Sebrell, both family friends of the bride. Wedding music was provided by harpist/flutist Mrs. Rosemary Gadsby of Boykins. Mr. Michael Mann, father of the bride, sang, “The Lord’s Prayer” a cappella. Molly Mann, sister of the bride, read a poem, and Mr. Alfred Puckette, grandfather of the groom, read scripture. Photography was provided by Conway Photo Shop.

The reception following the ceremony was also held at Bloomfield II. The band “J.B. and the Get Down Browns” provided entertainment and music for dancing.

The bride is a graduate of the University of Virginia, and works in Richmond as a support coordinator for children experiencing intellectual disabilities. The groom is a graduate of Virginia Tech and works in central Virginia as a chemical sales representative.

Since returning from their honeymoon in Antigua the couple resides in Gordonsville.

An engagement party was given by Steve and Edna Puckette, parents of the groom, at their home in Forest on Sept. 29, 2012.

Ben and Vivian Kitchen and family hosted a dinner party at their home in Sebrell on March 2.

The bride was entertained and showered at a bachelorette party in Charleston, S.C. over the weekend of April 5-7.

The bride was given an “A-B-C” Alphabet shower by Mrs. Ashley Collins, Mrs. Joan Collins, Brittany Skinner, and Mrs. Jeanne Skinner at the Skinners’ home in Boykins on April 27.

Lil and Johnny Hawthorne and family hosted an “I Do BBQ” at their home in Boykins on May 11.

The bride was given a “Monograms and Mint Juleps” shower by her bridesmaids at the home of Mrs. Lauren Schmitt in Midlothian on June 1, while the groom was entertained over the same weekend at his bachelor party to ACE Adventure Resort in Minden, W. Va.

The groom’s parents, Steve and Edna Puckette, hosted a rehearsal dinner at Rawls Museum Arts in Courtland on June 21.

Mrs. Rebecca Drake and Mrs. Wendy Drake Burgess gave the bridesmaids luncheon at Bloomfield II in Boykins on June 22.

Family and friends continued the celebrations with a day after luncheon given by Mrs. Donna Taylor, Mrs. Lil Hawthorne, and Mrs. Susan Britton at the home of the bride’s parents in Boykins on June 23.
