The Dukes lose 56-17 on the road

SUSSEX—The Dukes couldn’t fight off the Tigers of Sussex Central Friday night.

The scoring began with a 2 yard touchdown run by Sussex’s Michael Jarrett along with a 2 point conversion in the form of a Jarrett run. Then Isaiah Parham of Sussex brought down a 17 yard touchdown pass thrown by Deqwandre Jones. The 2 point conversion run was a failure. Windsor scored in the end of the first quarter on a 32 yard field goal by Tyler Fontenot. It ended 14-3 in favor of Sussex.

The second quarter opened with an 8 yard run by Sussex’s Jarrett with a 2 point conversion pass to Jarrett. Windsor answered on the next drive, culminating with a 10 yard run by Justice Chapman and an extra point by Fontenot. Jarrett returned the favor for the Tigers with a 66 yard run followed by a failed 2 point conversion. It was 28-10 at the half in favor of Sussex Central.

Sussex dominated the third quarter with a 13 yard bootleg touchdown by Jones. The 2 point conversion pass was botched. Then Churrio Scott ran 48 yards for a touchdown complete with a 2 point conversion run by Dontre Boone. Boone then had a score on a 50 yard run with a failed 2 point conversion. The score at the end of the third was 48-10 Tigers.

In the fourth quarter, Sussex’s Parham scored a touchdown on a 53 yard interception return, which was followed by a 2 point conversion run by Jones. Windsor scored on the last play of the game, with Breon Stocks running it in from 1 yard out. The extra point by Fontenot was good. The ending score was Sussex Central 56 and the Dukes 17.
