Indians Lady volleyball finishes last week strong

COURTLAND – After defeating Colonial Heights 3-1 last Monday at home, Southampton traveled to Colonial Heights this Monday and lost 3-1.

“We allowed them to control the pace of the match and never got into our game,” said coach Chad Brock.

The set scores were 25-16, 26-28, 13-25, and 23-25.

Grayson Drake had 23 assists and 9 kills. Sam Billups had 20 assists 3 kills. Madeleine Kahle had 13 kills and 1 block. Kaylee Edwards had 8 kills. Megan Duck had 7 kills.

Tuesday the Lady Indians traveled to Greensville and picked up a 3-0 win, 25-11, 25-23 and 25-17.

Grayson Drake had 9 assists, 5 kills and 1 block. Kaylee Edwards had 9 kills. Sam Billups had 19 assists. Madeleine Kahle had 11 kills.

On Thursday night the Lady Indians hosted Parkview and South Hill. The Indians dropped the first set 15-25, but came on strong and took the next three, 25-22, 25-18, 25-18.

“We started off a little shaky but then we picked up the pace and controlled the tempo of the match,” Brock said.

Grayson Drake had 17 assists, 9 kills and 2 blocks. Kaylee Edwards had 14 kills and 1 block. Madeleine Kahle had 15 kills and 5 blocks. Megan Duck had 8 kills and 2 blocks.

With the win the girls improved to 10-3 on the season and remain undefeated in district play at 6-0.

After this weeks performances SHS has three girls that are past the century mark, as Sam Billups has recorded 153 assists, Grayson Drake has 134 assists and Madeleine Kahle has 104 kills on the season.
