Windsor making a trip to the Eastern Shore

WINDSOR—The Dukes will be coming off a two-week hiatus to travel to Eastville to take on the Northampton Yellowjackets. Due to a bye, the athletes from Windsor have had an extra week to prepare and heal up from injuries for this 7 p.m. kickoff.

“We’ve been working on conditioning, physicality, and fundamentals,” said Coach Chuck Parrish of the Dukes. “We’re excited.”

Being that the Yellowjackets are a big upfront team, the Dukes will have to work hard to keep the Yellowjackets from stinging.

Raiders head to Kinston, N.C.

The Raiders from Southampton Academy are heading to North Carolina to go against the Arendell Parrott Patriots. This may be the longest road trip this season, but it’s not going to drown their fire to play tonight at 7:30.

“They are the biggest school we’ll play this year in enrollment standards, but they’ve always been physical,” said Coach Dale Marks when describing the Patriots. “This is our toughest test to date.”

Overall, the Raiders are excited about getting on the field. They have one injury and that’s their OE/DE Triston Holland, who’s nursing a shoulder dislocation. He will dress out, but quite possibly remain on the sideline.

Southampton High to host Spotsylvania

The Indians will be hosting the Knights this Friday in Courtland at 7 p.m. In regard to the game, the Indians have watched a lot of film and studied the Knights’ personnel to watch for weaknesses. They’ve also worked heavily on the fundamentals of the game to make themselves a better opponent.

“They’re a big, physical team,” said Coach Willie Gillus. “They have big linemen with a capable quarterback.”

As a growing program, the Indians are just trying to focus on executing good football and putting more experience under their belts.

Franklin playing host to Charles City

Amory Field will be packed when the Panthers come into the city on Friday at 7 p.m. The guys are coming off a great week of practice, and everyone is excited, said Coach Darren Parker.

When speaking about their opponent, Parker said, “The Panthers have a lot of different formations and a lot of athletes… A very dangerous team that we have to make ourselves prepared for.”

The Broncos know that the key to this game is to step up their defense and keep it at full throttle, the coach added.

Isle of Wight Academy opens its doors for Brunswick Academy

The Vikings will be traveling all the way from Lawrenceville to battle the Chargers on their home turf in Isle of Wight tonight at 7.

Practices have been up tempo for the Chargers, especially after coming off a win. Everyone from the coaches to the players is excited about this game.

“We can’t take them for granted,” said Chargers coach Dale Marks. “Physically, they’re bigger, but we should be able to match up to them with our speed and endurance.”
