Rose is Western Tidewater’s Player of the Week

COURTLAND—Quarterback Matt Rose of Southampton Academy is Western Tidewater’s Player of the Week for the second week in a row.
Southampton Academy was at home this week battling Word of God Christian Academy, and the Raiders defeated the Holy Rams 52-0.
In the victory, Rose rushed for 145 yards and ran in for 2 touchdowns. Rose was 1-2 passing. The one completion was a 19-yard touchdown toss.
The runner up this week was Corey Porter of Franklin High School. The Broncos defeated the Nandua Warriors 48-28 in a road game.
Porter, a wide receiver, caught one pass for 31 yards, scoring a touchdown in the process. He also returned a kickoff 77 yards for a touchdown on special teams.
