On July 8, the Windsor Longhorns entered the Mustang South Region Virginia State Championship Tournament, which was compiled of “B” all-star teams. However, the Windsor Longhorns entered the tournament with their 12 remaining players from their regular season team.

The Longhorns battled the Chesterfield Baseball Club American, 14-4, and the Chesterfield Baseball Club Nationals, 8-7. Windsor again faced the CBC Nationals in the state championship game.

The Longhorns scored one run in the top of the first to take the lead but the CBC Nationals would not be denied, scoring 3 runs of their own in the bottom of the first. In the second inning, the Longhorns added 6 more runs to regain the lead.

The teams scored runs in each of the fourth, fifth and sixth innings, and finished the sixth in a 12-12 tie, forcing the game into extra innings.

The Longhorns rallied to put 5 runs on the board in the top of the seventh inning, ultimately putting the game out of reach for the CBC. Three up and three down in the bottom of the seventh inning sealed the victory for the Longhorns as they won the Mustang South Region Virginia State Championship, 17-12.
