Lancaster stops Windsor, 9-1

WINDSOR—Lancaster High boys baseball team took away host Windsor High’s dream of progressing in regional playoffs with a 9-1 defeat on Wednesday.
By the end of the third inning, the visiting Red Devils already had three runs to the Duke’s one.
Both teams kept one another from scoring in the fourth inning, but four players on Lancaster’s team brought the score 7-1 in the top of the fifth. The Red Devils’ last two runs were made in the seventh inning.
Nevertheless, the Dukes’ fans applauded the team for their progress in the season and the effort on the field that day.
“I liked the way we fought,” Coach Robert Hedrick said afterward. “The kids battled hard throughout the game. They hit hard and there were a lot of good plays, but that’s just the way the game is. I’m really proud of the team.”
Hedrick praised all seven seniors on the team for their work in the season, adding that they pushed the young members to play well. He looks forward to Cory Childress, Hunter Williams and Gregory Ashburn playing next year.
“We’ll have a young team and a good core of guys,” Hedrick said.
