SA’s season comes to an end

Powhatan—The Southampton Academy soccer team’s season came to an end Wednesday after being defeated in the semi-final round of the Virginia Commonwealth Conference tournament 3-1 by Fuqua School.

The Raiders came in to the game as the tournament’s number two seed while Fuqua was seeded number three.

Despite posting a 1-0-1 record against Fuqua during the regular season and out scoring the Falcons 9-5 in the previous two games, the Raiders could only net one goal. Junior Alec Lippe scored the lone goal off a pass from Johnny Tribbett.

Several of the Raiders received all conference awards this season:

1st Team- Colin Swenson and Alec Lippe.

2nd Team- Johnny Tribbett, Zach Best and Russell Ballance

Honorable Mention- Alex Parker

All Academic- Zach Best

The Raiders finished the regular season a school best 15-1-2.
